Adrenalectomy
An adrenalectomy is the surgical removal of the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are located above the kidneys and they produce hormones to regulate metabolism, the immune system, blood pressure and the levels of blood sugar. Surgery is required when a cancerous tumor forms on an adrenal gland. The procedure may be performed with minimally invasive tools under certain circumstances.
